We can tell by looking that she's black. There are also clues that tell us she's a woman. But why in the hell do we need to know that she's gay???!!! That's none of my business!!!
Who cares if she's black or female or gay.
What really matters is that she is married to a political reporter for CNN. Conflict of interest!
Imagine if Trump or Bush had appointed a press secretary who was married to a Fox News reporter. All hell would break loose.
I see where this is headed, straight to the attic.

His Press secretaries were "promoted" to Fox after leaving the West Wing.

Good observation David!! Democrats don't seem to be concerned with these sort of situations. Only when they occur in Republican circles do they cry out and do everything possible to make it an issue.

You're right, but that's identity politics for you. I would say most Americans are hip enough to not care what her sexual identity is. She was the deputy Press secretary, so she was likely to get the job. Biden's record is so abysmal that he's looking for any positive nuggit to shore up the Democratic base.
The import thing is that Karine Jean-Pierre does not have a magic wand to make Biden administration policy appear to make sense. Standing up in front of the press every day and selling the shite that Biden's creating is going to be a tough job. The only other positive Biden gets from this appointment is she'll likely be more insulated than Psaki to direct criticism.
