LR Problem

My Lightroom (running on a 27” iMac) indiscriminately quits, usually when I attempt to send a photo to a plug-in, but not always.

Is this seemingly normal, and is there any fix that you folks know of?

My LR is version 6.0, and I am not interested in the subscription version. Adobe is not answering any questions about LR 6, so there is no answer there.

A long, long time ago I once used LR version 6.0 and had zero problems with it running under windows.

No help here John
Sharon tried light room yrs ago while I watched for about 30 mins, I won't say what she said but it contained a lot of four letter words, We where using Adobe CS4 at the time.
I have seen so many aggravating little problems with Lightroom posted here and I have no need of a lot of its features. After spending a few $k on CS programs started with Adobe 7 over the years that PSCC is a blessing

Please review your Help menu and confirm you are actually at the final point / maintenance release of v6.14. If no, that's your only available option if this issue is software related. I work in my LR v6.14 every single day on a Win10 machine, actually multiple W10 machines, although my desktop is the 'every day' platform.

I have a bunch of four letter words for LR.

I like it. I love it. I NEED it.

But I left LR6 a long time ago, and not only has LR moved on, computers have moved on. LR6 was obsolete 5 years ago. It can be used with legacy hardware but you'll probably have trouble with up to date computers. Windows seems to be able to handle legacy programs. Apple, not so much (although I'm new to Apple so there may be ways to use legacy software that I haven't learned yet. Right now I'm bipolar).

Version 6 is 7 years old. Maybe it's time to break down and start using LR CC Classic. For the $10/mo it costs you, you'll get both the Classic and cloud-based versions, full Photoshop, and a free web site. Oh, and your current issue with plugins will probably clear up.

When you say "Quits", does it freeze up or does it report an error and then tell you it's shutting down? If it freezes, how much ram do you have? If it's low on ram the symptoms will be a bit inconsistent because it'll depend on what else is using the ram.

Come on John break loose with some of those $ you have stuffed in the mattress.
The subscription isn't that bad and you might find something you like.
Save yourself the aggravation.

Did this just start occurring with everything thing staying the same?

Which plug-in? Does your computer meet the system requirements for the plug-in?

It has been happening for a while, and yes, the system requirements are good.

You should get updated to v6.14. There was nearly 2-years of updates / maintenance you're missing. There's no promise this will resolve your current issue, but it might help. These links still work, from Adobe directly, but you need to "Save Link As" so that you download the file and save to your local computer. Then, execute the downloaded file. If the install process works properly, save these files for possible reuse later. On Windows, I just right-click the URL link to get to the menu option to save the link (file) to someplace on my computer. Make sure to back-up the LRCAT before making any changes (create a copy of the entire folder, not the LR 'back-up' function).
