Something I just discovered on the R5

I'm sure you R5 owners already new this, but yesterday I was photographing my Grandson at his High school Baseball game (WON!). I usually shoot thru the EVF (which the diopter is set for my eye site) but have to look at the screen to preview with my reading glasses. I forgot my readers yesterday and discovered I can preview shots in my EVF. I was thrilled.

One of the game-changing features of mirrorless cameras. Especially useful in bright light when you can't 'see' the rear-display due to glare, as well as your use-case.

As Paul said this is a major advantage especially for outside events. It’s one of the things that is making my R6 my primary camera with the 5DM4 as backup or second lens camera.

Yes, it is great. Did you know you can also set a button to switch between EVF and the back screen. I do this so every time I take my eye from the EVF the back screen does not come on. Saves battery which you know by now goes fast! I have the red button on top set for this. It is second nature now if I want the back screen to come on, just press and it is on, press again and only EVF is on.

Yes, I did read about that. How the preview thing escaped me I don't know. I'm just glad I discovered it.

Where in the menu does one do this? Just setting mine up, and I find the menus very complex, to say the least. Haven't found this, but it sounds like it is worth doing...

Excellent suggestion…. definitely better than flipping the LCD! Are you actually flipping the LCD and EVF, or just turning LCD off?

All you have to do is look thru the EVF and hit the preview button.
