I find the second shot to be the better one in that it allows the personality of Angela to shine through. In the first shot, the items seem to compete for attention, diminishing Angela's presence.

In photo #1 if she were to be removed, the other elements, two sets, pot-cup and pen-paper dated by candlelight... these elements would stand alone. Combined those elements with her shapely female form the message, here dear man, over this coffee lit us discuss my clothing allowance.
In photo #2, we see her beautifully sculptured body, importantly, a cropped headshot is beautifully balanced in brown tones with afro, skin, and hat. Again in this shot, the hands are an active element of the strory.
Hands too often poorly posed are in both photos actively engaged in hand-tasks rather than being a floating confused why they are there as an element of the photo... too often typical of nude and photos in general.

Just a side note. When working on stagecraft, we had an exercise in which we had to do the Cyrano de Bergerac nose soliloquy using just our hands. It did give me an appreciation for "expressive use" of hands. In photography, it is often a "stylized use" of hands. I have used both separately and both intermingled.
And being a creature born (and somewhat bred) in the Romance languages, I do use my hands and arms when I talk.

Drawing the line through the nipples out to print right to intersect with the line drawn across the top of the coffee cup does show the cup and saucer to be tilted. It is re-emphasized by the line drawn across her hips.
Granted that there is the creative allowance in the shot. However, my tendency is to go further to apply lines to explain the deviations so that I can appreciate the "story" being told. Also, I make no distinctions in regards to the dress of the person in the shot. I do recognize that I do not view with an "American" mind. Hence, my two and a half centavos.

Yes Stephan I have the advantage of being so far sighted that taking off my glasses changes prospective in to blurred elements of any photo...
We have a diagonal construction lower right to upper left... feather fluff to shoulder. If we missed that by purpose of happenstance, Harry included a bright line in the drape background that is almost parallel.
For the religious, Harry formed the cross with the line ... elbow thru nipples crossing the line feather thru shoulder. Discuss it in you Sunday-school class tomorrow... Sunday... but not the small town Baptist church i attended as a child where hell was under the sand in the sandbox in which we 3 year olds were playing. [contained no cat deposits].
