A Chance Encounter...

with a beautiful Ferruginous hawk about to launch. Arose early to head to a new location in Idaho mainly looking for old cabins, inter alia, and had a good day with raptors too boot. This beauty stayed just long enough to get a good burst off as he was preparing to take off. Happened so quick I didn't have time to change camera settings so the wing motions are a little blurry. Believe this may be a first year non-breeding male.

Very nice. If I can think and work the fingers fast enough, I almost always have a bit of motion in the wings. That way they don't look like they are stuck on the background with a pin! Really good shots!!

Good captures. I've learned from experience to approach your photo designation slowly and surely. Ya never know who or what is waiting there. vz
