Day out in York Northern England last week, and one of the attractions is Clifford's Tower, which is all that remains of York Castle. £5 million pounds has just been spent on making it more accessible to the public, which includes a wooden walkway roof, which allows you a 360 degree view of the city.
some of the walls are out of alignment due to an explosion in the medieval ages.
This was the "Kings Chapel"
The inside entrance, you can see where fire damage has turned the stonework red.
view of York Cathedral from the roof, information such as this one were situated all over the tower.
From this angle on the roof there are two more churches in front of the Cathedral. For a small city York has many old Churches.
One of the darker periods in the History of Cliffords Tower.
interesting information about the Kings "restroom".
Now that is a "Fireplace"
The subject is very cool, you captured the feel of this place, as if I was actually there in person. Nice shots.

Well presented Doddy.
Thanks Karin, there weren't too many people at that time in the morning to spoil the shots.
Nice set. I went to York to visit the Minster, when I was reading Pillars of the Earth. It is a beautiful City.
Interesting, Doddy, interesting indeed! Thanks for posting these.
