Great Blue Heron. Images taken with Pentax K-5 camera on the San Luis Obispo Creek on the Bob Jones Trail in the Avila Beach Golf Resort. This is near San Juan/1st St. and Avila Beach Dr., Avila Beach, California. Image # 1 taken April 14, 2022, Handheld. Images # 2-8 taken April 17, 2022, on Tripod. All images highly cropped! I am fairly new to doing Bird Photography with a long focal length lens. Been doing photography since 1977. Comments OK. I have noted many points of improvements to myself already. Others species images to follow.

Great images but he sure doesn't look happy. Come to think of it I don't think I have ever photographed a happy GBH.

Nice images, but seemed a little noisy. Try shooting at iso 200 . The last few images seemed much sharper.

I agree with redfordl comments. Either lower ISO are run thru a noise reduction software. Overall they are quite nice.

Thank you everyone for viewing and commenting. Considering how I shot these I am happy with the Resolution and Sharpness. I am serious about having to crop them extensively. What you see are approximately only 1/6 to 1/8 of the original APS-C sensor area! And it is a only a Crop Factor 16MP camera, not a 30 to 45 FF. When I started shooting it was cloudy and dim lighting so shooting at my usual ISO 200 was not really an option. Is 800 considered high by anyone? ISO 12,500 is high. I notice limits of the pixel resolution, not actual (random colored pixel) noise in the dark areas. I am thinking of making 8x12" or 9x12" prints of my favorites and seeing how they really look.
use a noise reduction software before making your prints as suggested!
Nice series.
The noise depends on your camera, but if you have any problems, use Topaz DeNoise. It is great for any noisy photos. Since I got it, I have had no worries about using high ISO.
Topaz Sharpen is also a very good program.
800 is not a bad ISO, you should have no problems with that.

Noise reduction should be early in the editing process, sharpening the last.
