NGO magazine recently had an article on climbing the 8k peaks in winter. They managed to do K2, the most difficult & one in which 1 in 4 don’t survive.
Climbing any peaks is not on my list. I used to hike local "mountains," both here and when I traveled. These involved trails and one-day excursions.
I've "climbed" many peaks in my past. It was an obsession for several years. But not technical climbs like these guys are doing. I have all the respect in the world for them. I have a ten year younger brother who still climbs, but he's a crazy f**k who I would never climb with! He says the same thing about me concerning photographing bears!
Due to my active acrophobia, I do not climb mountains.
There's a place for mountains. Out there, where I can take nice pictures of 'em.
(I used to think otherwise, but that was a looooong time ago.)

Several people have done it; K2 is about the hardest!
