I'm about to buy a Sony RX IV replacing a mark 1 and just wanted to see if there are any rumors or such about Sony updating that model. Thank you.

I purchased my camera in 2020 and so far, there has not been any updates as to a M5 camera yet. But software can be updated when Sony has issues. The only issue I have with the camera is the charge life of the Sony battery. Watson batteries hold a charge longer when not in use and are a lot cheaper than the Sony batteries. This is the only issue I have.

Sorry, I should have added it's a 10 not a 100. My bad.

Thank you and I'm sorry I failed to indicate it's the RX 10 I'm interested in. I have a later 100 and agree about the batteries.

"if there are any rumors or such about Sony updating"

Of course there are rumors. One is that the "V" was expected in 2021 but the covid and chip shortages caused delays. Therefore, there will certainly be a "V" in 2022. Lens, sensor, software and stabilization will all be better.

I have a Sony RX VI for sale. It shows lots of use but the camera works great and it is a great price.
I upgraded to the RX VII.

Rumors? We don't need no stinking rumors! Of course Sony will introduce a V version. Three questions: When, How much, and What improvements?

Yes I have been waiting and waiting. As far as I know Sony has never confirmed there definitely is going to be a Rx10 m5. I sure wish they could at least confirm and perhaps a WAG on release date.

It’ll be hard to improve on the lens.

The new improvements should be:
1. Large long lasting charge battery.
2. Full 1" sensor to make the camera total mirrorless
3. Low light functions that the M4 is missing.

The camera is “total mirrorless”

There must be a lot of pressure on the Sony engineers to get more battery life. A smaller camera must have a smaller battery. People want cameras to do more and more, and that requires electricity. My tiny Canon film camera seemed to run forever on two AAs.

Yes, the 1" sensor should be standard on all small cameras. Of course, it's not really 1", but the advertisers like saying that it is.

Watson is the only batteries I buy and also their chargers.

Of course! That's elementary!
