What a happy baby! Are their bristles soft when they are young?

Caranx,
When volunteering at a wild bird 'hospital' in Manhattan, someone brought in a Hedgehog. It had recovered from its 'ailment' and for about 15 - 20 minutes in just lay on its back in the palm of my hand while I scratched and rubbed its abdomen. What a wonderful way to spend some time.

Their spines are “shielded” during birth but soon emerge & are sharp. If you hold them gently, you’re fine. They are adorable!

Photodoc, that sounds like a fantastic experience! Amazing how a little critter can sometimes make you forget about all the troubles in the world…at least for a little while!😃

We don't have them here in North America except for some people who get them for pets. It's a shame we can't get something like this imported to populate in the wilderness, no instead we import things like Japanese Beetles, Lantern Flies, and Joro Spiders, and of course Covid!

Don't forget about the pythons people want for a pet but then let them go in the Florida Everglades because they realized it was a bad idea. Idiots!

Must be Ukrainian. Has the country's flower as a backdrop.

Definitely happy! How did this site get it's name? I've never seen an "Ugly Hedgehog."
