Would anyone have any suggestions on a book that thoroughly explains Lightroom?

I highly recommend Laura Shoe's videos, about $ 100 for the complete set, less when on sale. There are also many books, such as the ones written by Scott Kelby and also tons of free stuff on-line. Best of luck.

1) Adobe user manual, found online at the Adobe site. 2) Martin Evening, he knew the people who wrote the software and he presents things in a straight linear format.

Adobe has stopped writing a "book" in favor of interactive, online reference. If you don't mind one that is a couple years old and can digest 373 pages, there is one available.

My favorite complete video course is provided by Matt Kloskowski. You load the course on your computer so you don't need a connection like when you are on an airliner. My favorite single subject videos are from Anthony Morganti. My favorite book is by Victoria Brampton, the "Lightroom Queen".

Scott Kelby has a new and up to date Lightroom book. If books are the way you learn best this is a great solution. Available as a paperback or E-book

I'm a big fan of his videos since Lr 5. Personally I prefer video format with an open dialog watching the actual changes than reading a book. I have a Kelby book, good read, but watching the changes works better for me. I use the book when I can't find a video on youtube.

Julieanne Kost is another excellent a free set and I'm sure there others.
