Tamron 18-300

Has anyone actually managed to lay hands on the Tamron 18-300 lens for the fuji system or any other system for that matter. I've been waiting for quite some time for one on back order and if you have one what's it like as a general walk around jack of all trades lens.

I have a Tamron 28-300 for Canon and use it as a "general walk around jack of all trades lens". Relatively light and no problems with IQ. One of my favorite lenses in my kit.

I have the 28-300 for very long time. It might be from film days. I called Tamron and gave them #On barrel and it went back too far for information. Great walk around lens.
I did try to use it when I got my Canon 77D and at THAT TIME, I had to use it on manual. The other rainy day I dug it out, played with it, and seems to electronically connect.
For walking around I love my 2 Canon pancakes 24mm 40 mm on my 77D or T7i

The only dealers who seem to have it in stock are Asian vendors on eBay, but I've had nothing but excellent results buying from Japan and Hong Kong.

I have it. I ordered it Nov. 3, 2021 from Adorama and it was shipped to me Jan 28, 2022. I used Adorama because B and H wanted you to pay for it when ordered. Because of health issues and winter weather I have not used it very much. It didn't come with any instructions and Tamron didn't have any downloadable instruction either. As noted by some reviews the zoom is overly tight in the middle of the zoom range. Someone claimed it loosens up after awhile. Maybe mine is a little looser now or I got use to it. I take a lot of landscape pictures and did not like changing lenses so often out in the elements.
Under some conditions, when the exposure is changing, it makes little clicking sounds, which of none my Fuji lenses do not. I will never be using it for video so this is not an issue for me.
Without any aperture ring on the lens it is adjusted on the camera or set to auto through the camera. The IQ seems fine to me.

I might consider renting one of those for my 3-week European vacation in June (Covid-willing...my last 2 attempts at vacation were cancelled by the our company or me) to go with my Sony a99ii. Reviews seem decent, but after paying for 2 tours and airfare, not sure if I want to spend another $145-180 since I still have to buy most meals and and extra excursions and souvenirs. Can you please, if possible, PM me (or post here) some sample images?

A photo guide suggested that I buy this lens so I did. I'm not thrilled with it. I use it on my Nikon 750 or with an adapter on my Nikon Z6. For me it's very heavy and not as sharp as I would like. I'm sorry I didn't go with a Nikon product. The idea of a good walk around travel lens I don't feel is accomplished with the 18-300.

I had that lens sold it got a Nikon 18-300mm it's so much sharper. The Tamron might have been a lemon.

I have a Tamron 18-400 for my Canon that I have used quite often. It does wonders but is a bit tough at 350-400mm. It is a f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD. I can recommend the Tamron lenses, just know what you are purchasing.

I rented it last week to try it out. Went to a local dam and powerhouse to get some test shots. Shot images at 50, 100, 200 and 300 using f8, f11, f16, f22 and f29. I was shooting one of the gantry cranes which were about 1500' away. I am considering getting this as my travel lens. I have the 18-135mm which covers me most of the time but I miss the reach of 300mm. I had the 18-200mm but sold it because photos were not sharp past 150mm. Here are shots at 50mm, 100mm, 200mm and 300mm.

50mm, f11
50mm, f11...

I have the Tamron 150-600 G2 since I bought it with my first $1200 stimulus check so it was "free" lens, thank you future taxpayers.
I called Tamron and asked about sharpness at 600. They advised me if possible back off the 600 to 550 for better results. I'm going to try 500 also.
This lens on auto focus can still be manually adjusted w/o switching to manual focus like most other lenses

I got a Tamron18-300mm lens for my Fuji X-T2 last October from Bedford Camera. The lens is sharp. It is a great lens and is now my favorite walk about lens.
