Working on a trip. If I could go to only one, would you recommend Yosemite or Glacier National Park?
Thanks,

Glacier would be less crowded.

Both are amazing locations. From my reading about both, I would comment:
1. Yosemite will be more crowded, especially in spring, summer, autumn time period.
2. Glacier has a couple of main roads, will be most crowded in summer month, not as much in spring and autumn.

At either location you most likely need to book hotel rooms well in advance of your trip dates.

Expect crowds at both. Need to pre arrange entry in either one. Gas prices may thin the herd this year.

Yosemite is more photogenic, safer to hike alone (no bear spray needed), I've been on a long hike in Yosemite and all mammals I saw was 3 bears and2 deer, no people. But Glacier was amazing, only been there once and that was in autumn. Been to Yosemite multiple times and always takes my breath away and I see something new to photograph every time.

Yosemite. With proper planning and not going between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Yosemite is a jewel for Photographers. One benefit, due to the steepness of the surrounding mountains, sunlight does not penetrate the valley until way beyond sunrise. No need to get up at zero dark thirty.

Depends upon whether you walk work or carry your lunch. The only thing these two parks have in common it they are both in the Western Hemisphere. The Everglades or Death Valley? Biggest difference might be the weather. Whichever, enjoy. One commonality, both are great experiences. Tough choice to do just one. Save your agony and go to both!

I would do Glacier. Both are amazing, but here are my reasons: Yosemite will be much more crowded, and most of the "features" are in a relatively small area unless you're a climber or hiker or want to drive up to King's Canyon. Glacier is less crowded, more "spread out" and there's a lot to see to that general area. But I'm also prejudiced with a huge love for Montana. Just don't go to Glacier before July or you'll risk having the Road to the Sun not yet open due to snowpack. I speak from experience on that matter. If you do go earlier and that road is not yet open due to snow, drive to the east entrance near the Blackfoot Reservation and enter the park from there. Beautiful area with lots to photograph.

Just my 2 cents worth. The local UHH members will have much more for you regarding Glacier. Good luck and have fun.

I read recently, and possibly on this site, that Yosemite is doing admission by lottery. Put your name in the hat and hope it gets drawn. This is due to the popularity of the site and need to control the crowds. So, best check with the park itself and find what will limit your access and how to best prepare for a trip there.

If you haven't gotten reservations in advance it will be hard to get into any of the national parks from May through September. Both are stunning.

Yosemite takes reservations ahead of time, setting aside 70% of their reservations for advance ticketing, and the remaining 30% are released at 8 AM on the date of arrival on a first come first served basis.

You should check with https://www.nps.gov/index.htm

Depends on time of year. Yosemite is always crowded. Glacier, while wilder has little critters called Bears walking about looking for a fresh meal. (Just kidding). Do however check on the new rules to use Going to the Sun highway here .

I've been to both parks, and this is a really tough call. Each is beautiful and photogenic, but the two are very different places. I think I'd choose Yosemite (off season as others have noted) because you get the mountains as at Glacier and more in the valley and meadows. But if you want the glaciers, get there soon before they're gone. So I guess I'm really saying, as with most photography questions, " it depends..." Good luck

We did the Utah canyons in October. Great weather. No crowds.
