I have held off upgrading to Apple's Monterey OS, as my MAC has been a bit quirky lately. Has anyone had any problems with Monterey? Is it safe to make the move? Thanks.

I tried to upgrade my iMac and found some software would no longer work. Mainly Microsoft Office. I didn't want to lose my spreadsheets and documents, so I restored my old Mojave system. I didn't check to see if my photo editing programs would work. I may upgrade my MacBook, but I will keep my iMac the way it is. There are too many upgrades to computers and cell phones, not to mention various software upgrades.

I have been using Monterey at home no problems.

At work out IT dept advised me Apple’s Bug Sur was like windows Vista, Buggy and Apple wants people to move on.

I upgraded my MacBook with no issues - running Office 365 with Outlook.

As was stated by Apple for over a year, older, 32 bit software, would not be supported going foreword. Normally, I wait 1-2 weeks after release and upgrade my MBP. If that works well, I then upgrade my iMac PRO. I have not had any upgrade issues and am using the absolute latest version on both machines.

That has nothing to do with Monterey.

It seems like you don’t like updates , ok nobody really likes them, but time moves on and software changes. You don’t have to update, you will be like the polar bear on an ice berg, and that’s ok if you want that.

But Your 3 updates behind now and FYI the issue you have is with Microsoft not Apple. Expect to have more issues as time goes on because eventually the newer softwares won’t run on the old OS.

There is a problem upgrading to Monterey if you have non-Apple memory installed on your computer: it just won't take the upgrade! To me this is alarming in that future upgrades may be restricted to only Apple-supplied memory. I have that problem, and you can color me very unhappy!

Upgraded IMac a month ago. No problems at all. LR/PS, Word and many other daily programs all doing just fine.

You don't need Apple-branded memory, but it MUST meet their specs. Check with OWC. Best of luck.

I have OWC memory on my computer, and it refuses the update. I have a MacBook, early 2015 with retina display and maxed out at 16 GM of OWC memory.

I’m sorry that does not make sense. Please explain why is it you say that? What do you mean “It won’t take the upgrade”? What is IT? What message do you get when you try to update? And what type of computer do you have Model and year?

Previous post: I have OWC solid state memory on my computer, and it refuses the update. I have a MacBook Pro, early 2015 with retina display and maxed out at 16 GM of OWC memory. I don't really get a message other than the upgrade cannot be completed. The Apple support group has indicated that this is a problem for many of their users, and so far I have not found a workaround. Suggestions please!
