Howdy Hoggers/UHH Admins,

I was going through some of my past posts with photos attached and UHH shows my post texts but no photos. When I click on the download it shows "404" photo not found. There are at least a dozen threads I had posted with photos. The text remains but photos vanished. They were direct uploads and not linked to any other URL.

Any ideas/thoughts on what happened to these posted photos?

Thanks in advance.

Jim

Interesting...
I checked a couple I posted in 2017.
The thumbnail is there, but clicking on "download" yields "403 Forbidden".

Posted in May, October, & December of 2019 - 404 Not Found.

A December 2020 image is there.

I have no clue as to what criteria the site owner may apply with regard to archiving the several bazillion mongo-pixels worth of image data that anyone/everyone's ever posted, but I recently had cause to 'look up' a post I'd posted some years ago so I could cite the post (and the image) in another OP's posting. I knew what date to look for because I've 'archived' --on my end, obviously-- every image I've every posted, though not the text that accompanied that image. While searching through my own previous posts (by clicking on my own user name and looking at my own previous posts), seeking more the text of what I'd written than the image itself, I found that everything I've ever posted --text and images both-- remained 'archived', available and whole, down to and including my very first post.

Granted, I haven't been on UHH as long as some others --I joined in 2018--, but as mentioned above, everything I've posted is archived, 'there', and searchable.

As mentioned above, I have no clue with regard to the site owner's criteria. Or whether there's any criteria at all.

The images will be back in 2-3 days. A drive that hosts those images failed. I replaced it and they are being re-uploaded from backups. About 2.7TB of images for those years that are affected so it will take a while to upload.

Thanks for clarifying.

When you click on "store original," that image is stored on the UHH computer. There have probably been hundreds of thousands of pictures vying for space on that computer. Maybe Admin is cleaning house.

Reading the whole thread would supply you with the actual answer.

All of my photos are still here, the only difference being, not available to view in download mode after a certain amount of time. Went back through some of my older posts that I have made seems like once I hit posts from about 2013 they stopped being available for download, at least my photos, someone else's may be different tho.

I was watching TV with my dog last night, and I got up to go into the dining room. I said, "I'm going into the dining room, and I'll be right back. I just hope I remember why I'm going there by the time I arrive."

Yea, it happens.
Hopefully not too often...

(I saw on the internet that some people use memory sole inserts in their shoes to help. )

I checked a post I put up in April, 2013. The photos were there but the "download" was gone.
I was surprised to see there was a reply to the post made in August, 2017 and another in February, 2019, years after the original post.
