My current MacBoo is a bit over 10 years old.It slows down something terrible when I use any of the Topaz programs (sharpen, denoise & gigapixel). Any hoggers out there with the new M1 pro or M1 max have the Topaz software programs on their laptop? How do they run? TIA

Any MacBook M1 will run any program just fine. It would be hard to find a better-performing laptop. The basic MacBook Air M1 will do everything you need. Just watch the reviews on YouTube.

👍
I have the 16" MBPro M1configured w/16GB/1TB/ running Capture 1 Pro. No issues whatsoever.
If you are just concerned with Topaz and not involved with intense video editing; you don't need to soup up your specs. If cost is not an issue, most will advise 32-64GB RAM to future proof your purchase. Keep in mind that Apple's memory swap technology for the M1 is completely different than in the past. It is much more efficient and performs as good if not better than higher RAM capacity of the former chips.
I would wait for Apple's March 8th event. They may be introducing some new MBPros.

Jerry, do you actually own an M1 MacBook or are you just repeating what you've read?

I also have a MBP M1 that can run Topaz DeNoise, Sharpen and Gigapixel with ease.
If I'm not mistaken, two of the three programs have now been rewritten for the M1.

I have the 13 inch Mac Book Pro. Nothing I have used with it slows it down, as long as you have adequate memory.

It's a 16-inch, M1 Max chip, 64GB memory.

I got a 16" MacBook Pro M1 for Christmas. 64GB memory. I have LR/PS and Topaz on it. They all run fine, considering that I'm still learning the shift from PC to Mac. The programs were slow on my 8 year old PCs and they are significantly quicker on the Apple silicon.

On the old PC, LR/PS would take 30 seconds to load. The MacBook takes about 2 seconds. Part of that could be all the old background processes on the old computer.

Topaz Sharpen or DeNoise take about 2 seconds to load. Haven't tried GigaPixel yet.

I'd guess that comparing the new Apple silicon to a 10 year old computer, you'll be happy with the new stuff.
