That is a great photograph Sue. Are you related to those kids, either one? Did you do the entire photo shoot?
Got any more?

Thank you! They're a young couple from our church - I did the shoot at a local state park which was a lot of fun despite the frigid temperature and will be doing their wedding on Saturday - gulp!!! Here are a few more shots from last week's shoot.

Thank you Sue. I just knew you had some more prize winning photos hidden away somewhere. Most people would not take just the one photograph of such a handsome young couple. I like every one of them. You really did a great job.

Good luck at the wedding. I have shot three weddings for friends at no charge and liked doing it but that was enough for me. One suggestion I might offer from a professional photographer friend is this: When you are taking the photos of the bride and groom, family all lined up etc. offer to let the friends and family attendees take as many photos as they want BEFORE you take your photos. That way they won't be in your way when you take your photos. It saves a lot of frustration when the audience, friends and family, are telling the bride and groom to do this or do that while you want just the opposite.

I look forward to seeing your wedding photos. I bet they will be superb. You are a good photographer.

Thank you Dennis! This is my first wedding and I will be doing it as a gift to the couple. It was supposed to be small and rather casual but like all things it has grown with about 150 people expected to be in attendance. Thanks for the tip about letting friends and family take photos before I do the "formal" ones - it's a good thing to keep in mind - I'm a bit concerned about people leaning into the aisle as the bride is coming down! My 15yo grandson will be getting a chance to take shots before the ceremony and during the reception with his D3500/Tamron 35-150 and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. His brother will be manning the video camera (he does the regular videos for our morning services, using a tripod - he'll be freestyling for the first time during the ceremony and will get some practice during tomorrow's rehearsal). I'll be using my Z70-200 lens for the ceremony and either it or a 35mm prime for the reception - the new Z28-75 2.8 lens would have been preferable but I don't have time to get it at this point. In any case, it should be a challenging but fun experience!

I can guarantee your worries about people leaning into the aisle are completely founded in historical fact and it will happen. While everyone there will love you not one of those loving friends and family will put your needs above what they want and will do. That is just friends and family at their best or maybe worst.

I know I will be superseded by others on your lens choice of the 70-200 but I think it will work. I think I used a Nikon 24-85 and it worked perfectly. The 2.8 might be nice but in reality I don't think you will need the 2.8. If you do you can raise the ISO to compensate and not lose much of anything at all.

Above all do not stress on anything. This will work well for you. I am not telling you anything you do not already know. Just do the basics, fresh battery, insert card into the camera, and you will do a great job. I am really rooting for you and know others here are as well.

The lighting in that sanctuary makes me crazy and although the 70-200 is a bit narrower on the wide end than I'd like it is fast enough to deal with it as I usually shoot at f/4-4.5 and around 1/100 with auto ISO to get a minimum of noise. My 24-200 has a minimum of f/6.3 when zoomed out which results in very ugly noise. My other lenses are all primes which won't work well in this situation. Beside all that I love how the 70-200 renders images! Thanks for your encouragement!

PS - as to people leaning out into the aisle, I've been warned about that but really don't know how to combat it other that shouting "back off!!" as the bride approaches - I don't think it would be appreciated!

Looks like a compelling argument for the lens of your choice.
