It was a bit of a rhetorical question. But if we re-opened ANWAR drilling, Re-opened federal land drilling, increases frakking, we would be able to greatly reduce need for Russian oil. Biden's cancelling Trump oil drilling policiies on cay 1 of his presidency did not help the US. Which I thought was a presdents first responsibility. He is more concerned about the climate change fanatics in the dem party than the US security

Those “climate change fanatics”! What in the world is wrong with them?

You are more concerned with political posturing than educating yourself. Of course there is the possibility that you are much smarter than everyone else.

First we don’t have a production problem. We have regained “ independence” (production = consumption) lost in December of 2020. This happened because of increased production and “despite “ increased demand .

The issue with oil price escalation is brought on by the future uncertainty NOT production.

Second it is my understanding the Russian oil coming in was bought and paid for earlier but now no one is touching it

“””” People are not touching Russian barrels. You may see some on the water right now, but they were bought prior to the invasion. There won’t be much after that," said one New York Harbor trader. "No one wants to be seen buying Russian products and funding a war against the Ukrainian people,"

Thanks for article on Russian oil imports and related matters. It explains these matters in mechanical terms favoring the oil industry. It says nothing about wide pricing variation and gouging of the public.

Price gouging has always been an issue with the oil industry, plus many others. Record corporate profits should not be allowed to continue without pushback.

WE ARE BUYING OIL FROM RUSSIA BECAUSE WE NEED IT. Fact: Before Biden took office the United States was not begging Russia to sell it more oil. After he took office, it now is.

Biden threw away our energy independence. Tomorrow Biden could reverse course, greenlight the Keystone pipeline and throw open new federal leasing to supply exports of liquid natural gas to Europe. He could also reverse his mindless opposition to the EastMed pipeline that would help allies Cyprus, Greece, and Israel to help other allies in southern Europe.

What is more ethical, keeping our allies and ourselves safe from foreign attack and without dependence on our enemies or following the green advice of billionaires like global jet-setter John Kerry and the unproven theory of climate catastrophe supposedly coming a century away?
