This a just a question for any hoggers who have an iPhone and who use the camera+2 app.
There are 2 raw options on the app…raw and raw+. Whichever one I use, the saved photo shows in the info as raw and jpeg but when I export the photo to my mac(there is only one) it is saved as only a jpeg….at about 4 mb.
There is an option in the apps settings to combine the raw and jpeg files. It doesn’t matter if that is on or off as the files are still only about 4mb. There is no option in settings to save in raw….only jpg, heif or tiff.
If I use the iPhone camera and take a photo in raw then it saves as a dng file which is what I’d expect.
Am I missing something or is the raw option in camera+2 a complete waste of time?
I’m not a user but it sounds like the RAW feature is proprietary to that particular app, kind of like trying to put an HEIC photo on a PC.
If you export using Apple Photos it will always convert to jpeg. You can hook your phone up to a computer and use it like an internal drive and do a direct copy.
