I've posted the less cropped version of "Late Lunch At Halls Gap" before.
However I had second thoughts about that image,
and would like your feelings dear viewers
on the versions of the crops below.
I like the second better. The whole dining area just tells a more interesting story to me.
To me the first is about the guy and gal;
the second is about the location.

I also prefer the second.

Which one do you think is the guy?
From a street photography point of view, the first one really features two people engaged with one another. The second one is an architectural photo featuring an outdoor dining area with the expected guests. The second one lacks a point of focus with respect to a subject. Is it the dining area, the guests, etc.?

Thanks folks, for taking time out of
your morning to contribute.
I like #2 best, Abo, it balances the picture out.

Normally, I believe the second shot would be thrown out of a photo competition because as others have said there is not a specific point of interest. That being said, I like the second one better for two reasons: In the first shot the walkway is distracting to me because it leads away from the subject and diminishes the main subject. What I like in the second shot is the triangle you get from the subject on the left, the mountain peak, and the group at the table on the right. S - curves and triangles are strong elements in photography and to me the second shot qualifies as a legitimate triangle arrangement.

Thanks Earnest; Mr Malarz has pointed out the "second one lacks a point of focus with respect to a subject"
and I reckon he has a valid point. In fact, it was precisely that, that compelled me to crop the right 2/3rds out.
When I did that, I missed viewing what I had cropped out, and that is why I've asked for the view point of others.
Viewing the two together and the comments posted so far have helped
me I realize why I (sorely) miss the cropped elements in the (more) cropped image.
You really need to do the double download to see the facial expression
and the direction of the gaze of the
woman in the background of the second inset... which is at 1:1 of the 4800x3232 image not presented.

I composed my "diagram" while you were posting the above... and of course was not
influenced by you/'re post.
Having said that, I obviously could not agree more.
And I see your point about the walkway...
I did have a reason for including it however... perhaps the reason
should have been better. :-)
Long story short a bit like wheels within wheels,
the "original" is pictures within pictures.
I think they both have merit for different reasons. I like both versions.
Hi Joe... my system does not recognize your emojies(?)
