My wife and I had to put our Lhasa Apso down in late January -- very hard to do and we still really miss her. She was part of our family for 15 years (got her as a rescue dog when she was about 2-1/2 years old). We plan to wait a year or more before getting another dog.
Do not wait! Getting another dog now shows how important your first dog was to your family. The new dog is a tribute to your lost family member. ❤️🐾

I have a 12 year old cat with cancer that must go real soon, nothing could be done for her.
I just had to send my 18 year old Siamese across the Bridge today. The vet found a lymphoma. She was my best friend and by my side through some of the worst times of my life.
I had to send my Golden Retriever on the 4th of this month.
My heart goes out to you knowing the pain you are about to face.

I'm a cancer survivor, after 33 radiation treatments, 6 months in a cancer ward, drained our savings, still have to go monthly for exams. I love my cat but she can't be helped, I know I'm selfish keeping her in pain but I can't stand it any longer, my next Social Security check will mean goodbye to her.

If you are getting old, get a dog and dump the cat.
DOG BENEFITS
People who own a dog have a much lower risk of disability in older age, but cat owners don’t seem to be protected in the same way.NewScientist - England
Maybe it's because they have to take them out for a walk in verry COLD weather?
