Here is another beautiful Sierra lake called Kirkwood Lake. Tragically, this area went up in flames in the Caldor fire last year. Cabins are gone and the campgrounds surrounding the lake are closed indefinitely-- in fact, the road is still completely blocked off where it joins hwy. 88.
Very, very sad as this was a stunning alpine lake and a beautiful camping area. Glad I was able to get some photos before the destruction.
Shot with my Sony RX1R
That's a nice view. I feel like I could sit there all day.

It really is very pretty. They had kayaks lined up around one side of the lake and you could just grab one and paddle out. Very serene.

Thank you, kindly, Smolakid :)
I got started in photography back in the 80's when I was a teenager. Film, of course. My dad was a hobbyist photographer and he would let me use his Voigtlander Bessamatic camera when I was a kid. When I was 15 my parents bought me my own camera, a Vivitar XC-3 with a Vivitar 50mm f1.7 lens. (Still have that lens, btw!). Within a short time I built a darkroom in our spare bathroom and started to develop and print my own work. I was also really interested in the fine arts and started painting when I was about 12 years old (I paint professionally now)-- my art training in college taught me a lot about composition and color theory which I also applied to my photography. I'm in my 50's now and have painted and taken photos continuously throughout my life-- got on board the digital camera train in the 2000's and although occasionally shooting with film, I love digital and made the full camera and tech transition years ago.
Nice, peaceful scenic, great reflection, too.
Beautiful shot! Good that you have it, sad that it is gone.
Hey Miss Indigoblues, thanks for the quick response.
Started my interest in photography a few years ago with a whooping 2mp Olympus
camera. next was a D80 by Nikon, then Sony A6000, now a Sony A7111.
Trying to find legit online classes w/o being a target of bate and switch sales technique.
