Does this remind anyone of Germany’s invasion of Poland in 1939 while the world stood by? A dangerous situation and a reminder that Putin’s superiors when he was in the KGB noted he was a “risk taker”

None of the younger generation will remember this because they don’t teach history in schools anymore.
I wonder how many of the higher ups in the Ukraine will be assassinated prior to the invasion. All clandestine activities like The invasion of Czechoslovakia in the 50s

C'mon, man. This is just a "minor incursion" — pre-approved by POTUS, no less.

Wonder what the folks at Burisma are thinking now............

Yep, Russia has a history of using naked aggression against weaker border countries (in addition to Czechoslovakia, remember Crimea?). You can bet there will be Ukrainian higher ups that are “disappeared”.

Putin took Crimea in 2014 while Obama & Biden sent our "allies" blankets & MREs, no arms. Putin suffered no real consequences. He has taken the measure of Biden and decided it's time to take the next step, regardless of economic "sanctions". His friends the Chinese will help defeat the sanctions. Meanwhile, Biden's green new deal policies have pushed oil to nearly $100 a barrel, gasoline to $3.50 a gallon, and leaving Europe largely dependent on Russian energy.

Agree that it reminds one of the run-up to WW2, though I wasn't personally alive to see or remember it. This has the potential to suck us into an armed conflict with a major nuclear power. Good thing our armed services have been training hard on diversity and inclusion. Wasn't there some saying about people who don't learn from history? Just as Joe declared success after the retreat from Afghanistan, no doubt he'll take credit for victory in Ukraine.

Can we please leave US politics out of this discussion and save it from the attic? Seems to me there has been a recent administration that was very friendly with the Russians, so how about we leave it there and concentrate on this aggression by the Russians? I do agree that this is a dangerous situation and I wonder what you would advise the president do in this situation? Use force to stop Russia? Putin’s gambling that NATO and the US will not. I readily admit that I don’t see a good answer in a world armed with nuclear weapons. It seems to me Putin is intent on reconstituting the former USSR and betting that no one is willing to go to war to stop him.

"Recent administration that was very friendly with the Russians"....You Dems just cant get over Trump. The Russians considered Trump a hard ass, and there was no f___king with him. Lets see, the Dems drew a line in the sand about chemical weapons and did nothing, they gave the ok to a pipeline that Russia desperately needs, they closed a similar pipeline of our own, leading to vast loss of employment and reliance on oil rich non democratic countries, leading to high prices that will just get higher. We now have a military that includes wokeism...and now you want us to concentrate on, "Aggression by the Russians"....Well, it's because Putin knows we have a senile, weak, old man in the White House who leaves the decisions to Susan Rice, et al...and he knows he will get away with it. Where have you been?

Ok, I’m done. Should have known the usual attic dwellers would use any topic to start the usual divisive political crap. I could answer you in kind with unpleasant facts rather than talking about the Russians (which is what this thread WAS about), but I won’t be a part of this divisiveness that is destroying America. I’ll ask admin to take down this thread or move it to the attic. It’s all yours…

His play book is as old as history itself. He intends to reassemble the czarist Russia at any cost. He is a thug and that is all there is to it.

Putin may be a risk taker, but he is also patient. After his previous invasion of Ukrainian territory he has waited for international turmoil (what little there was) to die down. Now he is taking a bit more. It may take quite a few incursions before he succeeds in capturing the whole country.

TriX is really something! States the recent administration was friendly with the Russians, then when he gets a response, he says the usual attic dwellers would use any topic TO START THE USUAL DIVISIVE POLITICAL CRAP.
He starts the whole thing then calls out those who disagree with him. How would you like TriX in your foxhole looking out for your back?

Actually that is a pretty typical tactic Lefties employ to control conversation and debate, to accuse those they disagree with of the exact thing they themselves are doing.

How quaint. You want this post to not be in The Attic while you use language that make it almost impossible to keep out of The Attic. I am looking at the top of the thread and it IS in The Attic.

Pay attention now. YOU started the divisive crap when you mentioned a former administration being friendly to the Russians. What did you think would happen after you posted those words? As I recall Trump was not friendly with the Russians and placed numerous sanctions on Russia. Perhaps you were thinking of Barack Obama and his screwed up administration when Putin had to be Obama's enforcer in Syria because Obama did not have the balls to enforce his own directive of no chemical weapons. How do you on the Left forget those important historical moments?

As one who has spent some time in a foxhole I can tell you I would not want TriX on my side. Best he stay on the OTHER side as he is now.
