There have been numerous posts on here re the time change ritual. My unofficial survey suggests a majority of respondents would prefer the ritual be done away with. While I have never been an advocate I have always considered it a minor nuisance, especially when I was working.
Well, my state legislature (the Peoples Republic of Maryland) has introduced a bill to eliminate the “ritual” and keep the time on day light savings. Not sure if a new time name is included in the bill. The legislature is mostly Democratic while the Governor is Republican. I have not read or heard of reasons for the change. Or whether the Governor will have reason to veto the bill. Of course, the legislature could override the veto. May depend on whether there are any lobby interests to keep the status quo.
I am trying to imagine experiencing the day light schedule in winter.

Which "end" of the day would you want more daylight during the Summer and Winter?
Morning or evening? Neither?

(Six of one, half dozen of another to me.)

DST is foolish; time changes are foolish.

Daylight savings changes were helpful to me if I wanted to mow the lawn after coming home from work in the summer. It was never a good idea for livestock people as the cows usually did not recognize such man made aberrations in their world. They would just hang out for an hour longer at the south end of the South 40 before moving up to the farmstead. But the few livestock farmers in the nation today do not figure into any calculations today. I don't really have a strong opinion either way.

I read in a local paper that Colorado is considering a change that would dump Daylight Savings Time. But... the biggest obstacle is the fed.... it's a congressional thing. First thought I had was that it's legislation that the boys and girls in Washington could probably actually handle and get done. That remains to be seen, of course. As for me, I'm conflicted, I DO want one (either standard or daylight) to go away forever. Our summers have pleasant mornings and "flick a coin" somewhat unpredictable afternoons where heat or wind or weather can prevail with short notice. Winter can be much the same, although more predictable. It comes down to when do you want to get moving during the day and how late do you want the setting sun blasting into the west facing windows. I'm not partial to either, I just want consistency, so dumping DST (Savings) is my choice.

Perpetual time.
Put a stick in the ground straight up and when the sun is at it's highest point change watch to 12 noon. Either daily or the first of each month.
The Sun is always at high noon at that time of the day, right?

Is the sun at high noon during standard or daylight savings?

At that time of day <between DST and EST>? No.

And it also depends if one is in the middle or end of a time zone.

Yes, time is a perception.

There would not be a time zone. Where ever you are your watch, phone, etc. will automatically adjust the time.

That was the problem and confusion before time zones were developed.
No one was on the same time.

Wouldn't "the watch automatically adjusting the time" kinda put you in a new "time zone"?

What would the sun declination be in Nevada when it is at "High Noon" in Philadelphia without time zones?

EU is looking to stop changing clocks in all of Europe. Was supposed to be law by now but COVID slowed things down. A survey a few yrs ago showed 84% in favour. Countries have to decide which time to go to permanently, ie, summer or winter.

I don't think it makes sense for individual states within a time zone to have different rules. Imagine traveling between states and having to figure out what time they're on. It seems like something which needs a federal solution.

Now that I retired, it doesn't really matter. Every day is Saturday and, rarely do I have to fit what I want to do into someone elses schedule.
