Wow' A friend of mines Uncle lived at a fire house in Philly. He used to sit in the back of one of those ladder trucks and steer the back ends around corners. He he used to let us slide down the brass poll to where the fire trucks were.

I would think the driver of the rear unit has seen the faces of some horrified drivers looking back at her/him. Imagine, the wheels that driver controls are about 8 feet in front of them. What other type vehicle does that to its operator?

Very nice image!!!!
I had to tow a 1937 version of a tiller steer Fire Engine, Towed it about 75miles and never did get the trailer to track perfectly straight.

Indeed it is. Hope it doesn’t have to manipulate any sharp, narrow turns.

Not really fun, the best we got it was tracking a foot to one side or the other.
But it was interesting, the steering wheel was 24"-26" dia. the tiller was open with only a windshield.

Not really fun, but interesting, the best we got it was a foot to either side, no power steering (1937) the tiller steering wheel was 24"28" dia. the cockpit was open only a windshield.
I towed it 1980 and 5 years ago it was still sitting where I delivered it.
