Cat adopts Hedgehogs

At a Russian zoo a feral cat had become a pet of sorts. When it disappeared for a few days the staff became concerned and went looking for it.
When it was found it had not only given birth to 4 kittens, but had somehow adopted 8 baby hedgehogs which it was nursing.
They tried to feed the hedgehogs milk from an eyedropper without success and returned them to momma cat.

Strange, but wonderful and funny. They are not ugly, but rather cute.

Even baby hedgehogs are cute. I'm amazed the mom cat has enough milk to suckle 4 kittens and 8 hedgehogs.

I was thinking that too. After all cats only have 6 nipples (dogs 10, pigs 14, for comparisons).

There is a great video of a cat adopting ducklings and nursing them. A cat which would not normally take in other animals will do so when the maternal instinct kicks in. I think that it happens with other animals as well. The attached video shows cat and ducklings.
