The ancient Greeks would have stopped every war activity during the Olympic games. Politicians would gather in Olympia in an attempt to resolve their differences under the guidance of the local judges. Additionally, there were other pan-hellenic games in the intervening three years between the Olympic ones. The Pythian games took place in Delphi, the most important oracle of antiquity, acting normally as the ancient UN. The Isthmian games took place in the great seafaring city-state of Corinth. The Nemean games honored Hercules, the best mythological athlete and took place in the city of Nemea. It is important to recall that Pindar, considered the greatest poet of Greece, composed poetry exclusively on victorious athletes from all four games, thus elevating the games to heroic status and finding a chance to praise the places of origin of the athletes. These poems are the equivalent of photography and have preserved the memory of great athletes. Pindar made a special effort to write in a language accessible to all, while dramatically improving writing itself, just like a great photographer.

I am horrified that war preparations against Ukraine are taking place during the winter Olympics and other wars have not stopped as well. I hope that people realize that war has clearly become an anachronism at a time when our planet is severely threatened by climate change.

To even think that the world would stop for a 2 week sporting event is not only naive it is just plain silly/ And BTW climate change (global warming, changed for political reasons) has nothing to do with any of it.

This morning I went out a shot a small assignment for a client- a bulldozer on a construction site. I went back the studio, process the film and see it off to the customer.

I went home and my wife was reviewing a tennis match, she is a fan,!. I posted some on the forum in NY little Portrait section. The TV is on and they are reporting the impending war in the Ukrane. I switch channels and the Olympics was being covered. MEANWHILE, there's an insurrection taking place in my city. I'll mah have heard, the so-called "Truckers Freedom Convoy" has tun int- can anti-democratic mob. And while all is ll happen climate-change is ongoing.

Just because many folks are simply going on with our lives and jobs while all of the turbulence is onion, that does not mean that photograher and other creative types and regular folks don't care. It has to do with coping skills. So, big deal, someone is concerned and pst his discomfort. So what can I do? Yesterday, I we out tot he grocery store and two fools accosted me and want to rip off my mask. So, I made a diplomatic trade-off and told them that they can rip my mask off, however, after which I will rip their heads off! They muttered they thought Canadas were nice people and ran off. Too bad for them, I am only 1/2 Canadian.

Everybody gets pissed off too easily. Folks argue over all kinds of stupidity. If you have your health, live in a democracy, do your job, protest your gripes in an orderly fashion, vote and participate, things work out. When everyone gets angry and acts out, mob rule will prevail and that is not good. One war was enough for me- PEACE BROTHERS AND SISTERS!
