Do any UHHs have experience with the Nikon 1 J1? Have an
opportunity to buy one for a "good price" (assuming it is
a quality camera). neco

I have one. It is a small interchangeable lens camera with a 1" sensor.
It's an OK camera, but don't expect a whole lot out of it. One drawback is, it doesn't have an EVF.
So it's not very useable in bright sunlight. As far as quality, it seems pretty well made.

With all due respect, I cannot understand why you want a camera with a smaller sensor than the competition like the 1J1 that has long been discontinued. There are excellent mirrorless cameras in the Nikon line up and the Z50 comes to mind not to mention actual bargain prices of old Panasonic and Olympus Pen models

The IJ1 if memory does not fail came into the market around 2011. Not many lenses available for it at the time and it was soon discontinued. It never stood against the Olympus Pen EP-3 which was a superior camera, just to give you an example and the same goes for the Sony models at the time, all of them available at attractive prices in the second hand market.

I have no experience with this camera but if I were you I would save a little bit and go for the Z50. You can use your DX lenses with it using an adapter and surely you will be better off.

I had the V1 I think or it might have been the J1.
Bought it thinking my wife would use it but she didn't
In any event, I got excited about it when I saw it at WPPI years ago. Bought the mount for all my lenses.
Tried shooting with it and it was very difficult. Hard to see through the view finder.
I ended up selling it for a loss not long after I bought it.
My suggestion is save your money and invest into a real camera.

Thanks for your information. The seller has a low price, but not worth any price if the camera is not very good. I usually shoot with Canon and/ or Sony. Thought this much smaller camera might work in some situations. Neco

Look at the SL3 if you want small and light that will use your current lenses. It has DPAF, 4k video and is about 15 oz.

Thanks. Small is nice in certain situations, but my eyes are beginning to need larger.

I have the same exact model, even though I have not used it in years it took very good pictures. It is a very good quality camera and did everything I asked it to do.
