Well done! A lot of once viable locations have met a similar fate.

Is there still water in the well? (And not as opposed to turbulent water!)

Loren - in Beautiful Baguio City

Thank you, Loren...and like the rest of the Sierra's, the well was dry!!

So much history there. I see something like this & I try to imagine life there; business being conducted, daily activities, lives being lived. And , at one time people were owners of the homes, businesses, & even the vehicles when the were bought & being used.
Great pics. Thanks for posting them.

Many thanks for your reflective comments, Michael...and you're welcome. Good to see you enjoyed this series and appreciate you stopping by!!

Been there a couple of times when I lived in California and would vacation in the eastern Sierra. It's a very interesting place to visit and worth going to see.

Your series of shots are excellent.

Thank you very much, flyguy and good to hear you've spent time in this old historic town!!

Why did everyone leave?

Rather than continuing to mine a dry shaft, they left to take their chances in Las Vegas, Susan...and, there were no malls nearby!!

Terrific series Jederick. It set my imagination loose as to what this town looked like in full operation.
And I'm certain you tried to open the vault! :-)

Wouldn't you know it, Mr. Spock, they had door-bell camera's on the vault! Actually did get down and took a few photos with my camera inside the vault...nothing special!!

And, how hard it must have been leaving all that they had worked for behind. A different time. Like, perhaps, the 1800’s when people were leaving the east & heading west. In Big Bend NP you see what were old ranches, general stores, even post offices from the early part of the 1900’s & what it was like then; remote, no phones, travel by horse or wagon, supplies & medical attention 100’s of miles away. It fascinates me to see these places & contemplate what it had been there many decade ago. Just me rambling on. :-)

As we hadn't been here in 13 years, I spent a lot of time photographing most of the town. In this series my intention is to show more images from the back streets and less common scenes.

Fantastic set of images!! Jim
