Does any other veteran among us remember being asked if we would mind being inoculated against crap like typhus, cholera, etc? We were lined up in company sized groups and marched past a bunch of corpsmen armed with those pneumatic injectors. When you came in reach, one of them grabbed the arm nearest them, pressed the device to your upper arm and with a "PING" you were left bleeding, but supposedly safe from whatever disease you might encounter wherever you were being deployed to.
If I'd known declining was a possibility (it wasn't) I'd have gotten the shots anyway because a soldier obeys orders.
