Labs that do fine art printing

I have been working a number of my photographs into artistic images via post-processing in Topaz Studio 2. I don’t print at home but use labs for my photos. I want to use a lab that will give a ‘painted’ look. I have zero experience with this. In the past, I’ve tried canvas prints but wasn’t happy with them. I searched on here but didn’t find any answers.

Some labs do giclee prints using papers like linen or rag. Is this the right answer? If so who do you use? And what process? I have a fully calibrated system and understand how to soft proof using printer and paper profiles but don’t really want to play around doing trial and error due to cost.

Thanks in advance

Millers are a few that I use for printing. Each will send you sample sets of their various paper types. Just ask them

For exceptional images that I want in large sizes, my preference is metal print. But the total print exaggerates any flaws in the image, so choose metal for images where you’ve nailed the focus and the exposure. One big added benefit with metal is that you need not frame the print. Metal pics are expensive to print, but end up less expensive if you factor in the cost of the frame and glass. My 30x40 metals would cost $400 to mount and frame.

One more point about metal - I don’t print metal less than 16x30. (Maybe 11 x 14j. Anything smaller and the pop off the metal isn’t as dramatic.

I have had photos printed on watercolor paper that turned out very nice. I like the bit of texture that the paper adds to the image and the lack of any luster/shine imparted by coated papers.

Hi I print on (2) 44 inch wide large format printers a IPF 8300 and a PRO4000 and print mainly on canvas . When Images are properly done on a Quality canvas and coated with a good Quality Giclée Spray they can be stunning . There are different settings for quality and Ink coverage .My canvases are always at the Highest settings possible from the printer .There are many different types and surfaces of canvas and weaves from manufactures . Not all companies use the highest settings to conserve ink they print at the lower PPI . I have my settings in photoshop set a 300PPI upon import into ACR and they are always resized to that regardless of cropping . The ink saturation is also determined by the ICC profile used some profiles are even listed as Standard , High , and highest each setting or profile from Canon for the IPF8300 with each giving more ink saturation for the Canvas or paper being used . Your best bet is to find a Local Printer in your area and get his or Hers personal Touch of Quality . There is a Cloth that I use that can best be described as a silk of very fine weave and that can be backlit or not when sealed properly it looks Fantastic .I am supplying a Link to it perhaps a local printer has an experience using it . The coating can hold high levels of ink saturation for richer, more brilliant color on the ultra-white base polyester cloth.LexJet Water-Resistant Satin Cloth works with dye or pigmented inks

look at image I posted on this.. It is taking a realistic photograph and apply filters (via Topaz Studio 2 for me) to make it look more like it was painted.
