This is a general question not related to photography but intended for all you phone experts out there. My iPhone 10R this past weekend decided to Send texts but refused to RECEIVE texts. I'm far from a tech geek but I've tried to fix it myself with no effect. Does anyone have any ideas?? Thanks.

I have an iPhone 10xr and I know that I can’t communicate via texting with an Android phone like a Samsung unless we are both directly on our provider's signal, not on WiFi. That’s the only quirk that I know about. With iPhone to iPhone, texting works whether on WiFi or on your carrier's signal.

I can't add anything specific, but to say I found I wasn't getting / sending texts yesterday. Two hours + with ATT and I need to go visit a store today as my new(ish) 5G HTC phone -- an Android that has operated great since early Dec 2021 -- needs to have the 10-digit code physically on the SIM card properly reflected in AT&T's systems. I'm rather pissed as this is the same SIM I've had now for 20+ years across multiple phones, including the phone I was actively using while talking with them when the call was disconnected.

I have an Android and my friends have I-phones. We communicate via text whether on WIFI or signal. I don't think I've ever experienced what this poster is describin.

If your old sim card was 3G, it needed to be upgraded to 4G or 5G.
AT&T set February 2022 as the deadline for 3G devices.

I believe it's the phone, not the SIM card. I had a 4G phone already, but dropped it and really smashed the screen and a corner of the phone. I took it as a sign so I should just go straight to a 5G phone. I guess I'll know later today.

you would think that Verizon would have told me to update by now if that were true

I guess I need to take a trip to Verizon. Maybe it's a ploy to get me in there and sell me a NEW phone. LOL Their stock isn't doing that well

I recently had an issue where I could not send/receive texts from my iPhone to my husband’s iPhone, same model of phone. We’re now on TMobile since Sprint merged with them, have been for 20 years without a problem. I went into the store and the agent had me reset my phone and his to the local tower network. It took only a minute or two for each phone (sorry, I don’t have the exact sequence we followed and it’s specific so you don’t reset your whole phone - so I’m not going to guess here). Since the reset, we can both send/receive. Sure is frustrating when they just stop working as expected. Good Luck!

AT&T proactively sent me a 5G phone last year. I told them I didn't want it. And, in the discussion process, I learned my 4G phone was perfectly acceptable as they were only dropping 3G in the the 5G roll-out. Alas, I went from working great with a different 5G phone to 'no mobile network' yesterday, necessitating a physical visit.

How would I know what "G" I have? LOL what a pain in the ass this crap is. It's pain enough that so-called "voice recognition" completely misinterprets everything I say. If this is "modern technology" bring back the old. LOL

It's funny you say that. The guy I'm having the problem with is a big shot with T Mobile. LOL
