OWC Atlas S Pro SDHC UHS-II V90 Media Card

Does anyone have experience with these SD cards? I have purchased couple of these to replace some of my old SanDisk Extreme Pro SD cards. The OWC cards work fine in my cameras. However, I've encountered major issues when trying to transfer images from them to my 2020 iMac. The cards mount on my desktop and show the images which I can copy to my desired locations. However, I can't eject these cards. When I issue my standard eject command, nothing happens even after 15 min or longer. The cards do not eject. When I physically remove them, I don't get the usual message that they weren't ejected properly. Now even after physically removing the cards, they appear as still being mounted and I can still access all information as if they were still physically attached to my computer. Now, when I try to Import the copied images from their copied location, LrC locks up and locks up my computer requiring me to do a hard reboot. This happened with two different OWC cards used on two different Sony mirrorless cameras. To confirm that this was related to the OWC cards, I took couple shots with my old SanDisk cards and these issues were not present. Any ideas?

I have never used these cards. But the name and the behavior makes me believe that they may come with some software on them that installs itself and seeks to do some sort of function, whether backup, file copy, or maybe even something else. While one is mounted, or perhaps on a new and previously unused card, can you do an "explore" to see if there is some unexpected file on the card? You can also run Task Manager and see if some unexpected program is running.

I was thinking along the same lines and hope that there wasn't some malware on those cards. I've decided to return the cards for a full refund rather than dealing with the unnecessary issues and go back back to SanDisk Extreme Pro SD cards.

I'm on Windows, so this might not be pertinent.

Some cards I can right click and eject. With others I have to go to a drop down menu and select eject. If your menu bar is at the bottom of the screen it would be a pop up menu.

Check the properties to find out whether the card is seen as removable media or as a local disc. If it’s seen as a local disc you didn’t eject it, you unmount it.

Good point! However after chatting with their tech support who didn't have a clue, I've decided to return the cards for a refund.
