I just happened to be reviewing some of the last art nude work I did with 7D Mark II bodies. I realized I was getting nostalgic about how that wonderful processor and sensor combined to do madly cool things with grain in low light, soft focus conditions. I'm sure some (most?) won't like this grainy effect, but I love the nostalgic look it evokes.
Anyway, here's one image from way back in the day (May 2017); a great collaboration with an outstanding model and truly beautiful human being. Originally captured RAW with custom black and white settings; I added some sensitive "nostalgia" themed post processing to hopefully contribute to the mood and the story in this image.
Indeed a beautiful shot of a beautiful abundant model. The photo is, in a sense, a duotone ... brown and white a good choice the browns blend with her skin tones. The choice of some other color for the shadows and background would detract.
very nice image with a ton of character.

Very striking and really appealing
Amazing model and image. If there's information there, I'd love to see more space to the left, less to the right, and a bit more over her head. I love the warmth of the colors here.

Thanks, glad you liked this. I’m much more comfortable customizing both my in-camera settings and my post processing. For this, I decided to use a “software developer suggested” post processing set; it’s actually called Nostalgia! Anyway, I think it worked quite nicely with this photograph. I particularly liked the soft focus and color handling; it also didn’t apply a bunch of unwanted “noise reduction” settings. In a similar setting (boutique hotel suite, available light mixture of incandescent, led, and natural light), I may be tempted to try this again?

Thanks, we were aiming for a story unfolding in the available light, with complementary color banding in subject and background… all while trying to stay somewhat conventional with the Rule of Thirds.

Thanks, glad you appreciate this image concept, as delivered.

Thanks, and yes, she’s truly beautiful; which made my job so much easier.
Unfortunately, as the 7D Mark ii sensor is cropped (1.6X), even with a 50mm lens there’s only so much background real estate I could juggle with, in a small (but very beautiful, boutique) downtown Hotel suite. I decided on this pose as it allowed the model to stretch her torso in a safe, core controlled mannner, with her lower legs providing maximum support in this position.
I did choose to give her a little more headroom (by not including her legs below the thigh) on some other shots but I feel this pose and shot composition works best given the constraints. Ultimately, we make choices based upon benefits (in this case, the sensor effects in this available light), and have to accept or minimize the consequences.
