What to do with empty ink cartridges..

Try a cartridge buy-back site
Some websites will buy empty cartridges from you as well. And they’re actually willing to pay quite nicely for them. Sites like NeedEmpty, UsRecycleInk and Evolve Recycling will mail you a check when the balance exceeds a certain amount. This amount varies from site to site, but they tend to pay more for laser printer cartridges.
Some office supply stores will offer credits on empty cartridges.
will
I believe in the U.S. Staples will accept empty ink cartridges.
Not sure how Canada or other countries handle them.
Last time I gave them to someone here on the hog for refilling.

Yes, Staples does accept them and will give you $2.00 credit for each one. There are some stipulations. You can only recycle 10 per month and you must have spent a certain amount of cartridges at Staples.
My experience is that after turning them in several times, my account is not always credited. So, save your receipt.

Same experience with Staples. Did not credit my account. Office Depot has a strict amount of time you must return to purchase something. I gave up on those two stores.
I return my empty's to my local Office Max store, they usually offer me a short-term credit, but it's still better than disposing of them into the landfill.

We have an HP printer and have an automatic send and return set up. They monitor the amount of usage and send a cartridge and you return the empty in a prepaid package. Black or color.

I agree. My main purpose is to recycle, not get money back. But, the rebate is nice.

I don’t see the credits anymore, either.

I got tired of fooling with cartridges. We bought an Epson EcoTank ET-4700 for the home office. It uses bottled ink. We have had it a year and a half and only used one full set of color inks plus a bottle of black. The printer is shared by five people and gets used daily.
They also sell two photo printers (ET-8500 and ET-8550) that use six color Claria dye-based inks.

I have an Epson XP-7100 that I hate. It hasn't worked properly since the day I got it. I know many people have had a good experience with Epson, but I would never buy another one again. I tried to return mine under warranty, but Epson wouldn't honor the warranty, telling me it was a software problem and that they would solve it. The warranty ran out without them ever being able to fix the problem.
I bought the Epson to replace a Canon printer that was damaged in a move. I also have a very old Canon photo printer. I never had a problem with either one, except for dropping that one when moving. My next one will be another Canon, once the chip shortage has eased and the one I want is available.
Staples Office supplies store will accept empty ink cartridges, only a few at a time. I went there once with a dozen and they took only a few. I really don't remember the exact number that Staples took.

There used to be a 10-cartridge limit on returns.
Speaking of OfficeMax, and sister store Staples, they are the only places in my small town where I can buy the Epson 220 cartridges. I use the cartridge return process every time I get enough empties to get the maximum rebate. The problem is, these stores no longer stock individual color cartridges - one has to buy the 3-Color Boxed set. So even though the $20 rebate covers a good bit of the 3-Color set, I end up with multiples of the color that is the least used in my printing. I now have four Yellows accumulated. I suppose I need to print some graphics that have dominant colors with a yellow component (sigh). . . .
