Thank you so much, appreciate your comments.

Having a great time with the photos. My cooking time at home is so limited that I prefer buy some food and be creative.

Cool shots. How did you do it without taking a bite out of one to keep your energy level up?

Probably started out with a half dozen. Nice photo.

End up eating two after the shot, no a good thing.

These donuts do look delicious. Thanks for sharing the photos.

In order to understand my food photos better and maybe others can find something to ponder, I do have a question or two. What is the camera focusing at in the first photo? To me it is probably near the tabletop. I am wondering if it should not be closer to the front edge of the top donut. Thoughts?

Also, what focal length of lens did you use? That, along with other things, will affect the depth of field and those what is in and out of focus.

I have some struggles trying to decide these things in my own food shots. --Richard

Hi Richard,

The first photo ISO 400 / 50 mm 1.8 / 1/25 s / f6.3 with a tripod

Second phot ISO 400/ 50mm 1.8 / 1/100 s / f3.2 no tripod

See the attached set up. A white bounce board on the left with a reflector ( founded in a box of chocolates, you can make it with aluminum foil)

GODOX SL 150 ll with a 24x24 rectangular softbox.

Let me know if you need more information. Glad to help !

Ernesto
