Film days: forgetting to load film. I was made the ship’s photographer in the navy because I had a nice camera. One sailor re-enlisted and part of the deal was being photographed reenlisting on the Derrick arms of the ship (lst 1180 tank landing ship). I photographed it all without any film in the camera.

The Derrick arms are at the front of the ship in this link

Ouch.

OK, I’ll bite. Not watching to see if the takeup spool is actually rotating when I wind off the leader on a film camera.

Had that happen once. Luckily I caught it before I started taking pictures because the rewind crank didn't move upon advancing the film. I always watched the rewind crank since then when loading.

After driving several miles from home, and seeing some gorgeous birds on a pond, and getting perfect focus, starting to press the shutter, then reading that little message "no card in camera".

Leaving the house with no memory card. I figure that has happened to everyone at least once!

Sorry. Can’t empathize at all ... and I’ll forget my phone almost as often as not.

Not yet.
My cameras always get stowed with a card in them.
Usually an empty card.

Never happened but once! Extra cards, extra batteries... won't ever happen again and I'm old enough to forget EVERYTHING.

Forgetting that previous outing left camera in .jpg mode AND with a manual white balance that was extreme. Discovering all of this most of the way through the next outing.

Shooting wedding formals with an RB67 and forgot to return the back to vertical after shooting group shots - took the tops off everyone’s heads for the next half dozen frames. Saved by my 35mm backup.
