Costco will have a Dell laptop 17 inch screen, 32GB RAM and 1 TB of memory for 500 off. I don't know much more it offers but the Intel I7 processor and the GeForce RTX graphics card. I use my desktop to PP photos but this laptop seems to have plenty of power to download photos while on a trip. Is this a pretty good setup for a laptop and is there more inside specs I should be looking for? Thank you for any advice.

Basically those three items are the primary concern.
Other "extras" would be stuff like lighted keyboard, number of USB ports, numeric keypad (a must for me).
Few are made with a CD drive anymore.

P.S. You mean 1Tb of drive space. Memory is the 32Gb of RAM.

I'm not telling you how to spend your money but, I recently bought a Dell laptop PC and I am not happy with it. It may simply be the one I got is a lemon, who knows. It was also on sale at best buy.
32 gigs of memory isn't much these days.
500 off what? The actual cost is a far better metric than the amount of the discount.
Best of luck what ever your choice.

It is originally 2499 and Costco has it for 1999. I do remember having a Dell desktop that didn't seem to last very long either. Thanks for reminding me.

My wife uses her laptop every day for the last three years and had no issue. She travels with it too.

I purchased a Dell laptop in July to travel in Europe. I paid $1,800.00 for it. See the specs on the joint image.

There is another laptop very similar to it on Amazon.

Of note: This laptop had 'only' three USB-C connector and does away with the regular USB and HDMI. If you need those, you need to purchase an adapter like this one…. This adds an Ethernet port, 2 USB 3 ports, an HDMI port and two card readers.

I purchased it too as I was really interested in the USB-C (PD) charging capabilities. Note that the charging at 100w works only on one USB-C in the laptop.

A 17" gets to be a bit on the large size for traveling.

Not to start a pointless diversion but both RAM and the hard drive are forms of memory. The difference is RAM is fast, temporary memory used for processing while the machine is operating. The hard drive memory is for permanent data storage and retains information in memory even after the machine is shut down. OK, back to the real purpose of this post :-)

Well, not to be picky either…
A hard drive is not a permanent storage either. Only read only CDs or DVDs (and other media) are permanent (as long as not physically destroyed).

The last couple of laptops by boys bought didn't ever have SD card slots!

Plus battery life if you will be using it a lot away from being plugged in. If your primary concern is uploading your photo files to it while traveling, all should be good. If you plan on doing a lot of heavy post processing of your photos on the road, a powerful processor (speed + more cores) would be key. A note with labtops, more cores causes more heat wich slows down performance. If your not opposed to using the Apple M1 computers, A Macbook AirM1 8 proccesor, 8 gpu, with 16 of unified ram will wipe up the dell most likely while running cooler. Next step up is the Macbook Pro 13" with better sound, better screen &, I believe a cooling fan.

The cpu does most of the work & is most likely your bottle neck.

I will only load photos on laptop when traveling to make sure that the shots are sharp and the composition is what I want. Yes, I will go ahead and install LR and PS for some post processing. All photos will be loaded on a portable HD connected to laptop but this is only while on the road. My desktop is what I use to work on photos.
