Hilarious! Fairly possible, considering some of the rookie mistakes NASA's made. Remember Hubble's mirror? It was shaped perfectly under earth gravity but wrong once in weightless space.

Funny, yes. Problem is, the deep space cameras won't be turned on until the JWST is in orbit at L2 and operational configuration has been achieved, about 6 months from now.

Well, something like that would have been possible. Look at the mess they had with Hubble. Fortunately, that was close enough to send a repair crew.

Thats a long way to go to take a lens cap off.
Little know fact about the Hubble telescope is because of the time period, the camera on board to take all those fabulous images was only around 1 MP. That was the state of the art in charge couple devices at the time.
Hard to believe that the Hubble was never tested on the ground. Could have saved a lot of trouble.
