Leica Books You Would Recommend that Feature the Leica CL

I'm about to get a Leica CL with the 18mm kit lens. Is there a book that you recommend that covers the camera and appropriate lenses -- especially those that autofocus? I want to keep the system light and I'd love a zoom that goes out to about 135mm equivalent and doesn't weigh a ton and is available used for under $1000.

At that focal length the only choice is the Leica 55-135. Both Sigma and and Panasonic make longer zooms but they are designed for full frame cameras meaning heavy and bulky. Forget the $1000 price point even on the used market

Go to You Tube and you will find quite a few videos on the CL including the red dot forum. You should understand that the CL is a crop camera (1.5x) and the lenses for the TL and L cameras are all crop lenses. The SL lenses are full frame. You can use the Leica M lenses with an adapter, they run in price from $10 to almost $400. You can find adapters to fit various lens mounts to the CL, T, TL, Tl2, etc. For instance I can get an adapter to fit my Nikon F mounts to the Leica. Also when you use the less expensive adapters you will be shooting manual all the way. There is almost no Leica lenses that cost less than $1000.00 that are a direct fit to the CL. I am still learning about the Leica Equipment and their short hand designations for cropped, lens type, camera designations, etc. I currently have the CL (2), TL2, X2, and Q2 (what a camera!). I have used all Nikon equipment (FF) for the last thirty years, but just too heavy. I did shoot with a Leica M3 back in the days of film. If you would like to contact me, use email hankswan@sbcglobal.net or phone (361-993-9861). The best thing about Leica is the color rendition, unequaled in current digital offerings. P.S. you might want to take a look at the TL2. I has some advantage over the CL, including only one SD slot, but 32G built into the camera. Good luck with your Leica advantage. Hank
