I heard that B&H will no longer has Payboo card but they will have a new card. Anyone knows the details?

Yes, they are going to make one card that combines the features of both. You will be able to use the time payments option or the tax refund option from one card rather than having to have two cards.

But that is the description of the current card which I’ve been using for about 2 yrs. I never needed 2 cards. I could pay my whole purchase monthly, or pay less and owe interest on the delayed portion.

The idea of one card that combines both seems to be the card I’ve had all along. And I did get a notice that the account will die in a few weeks.

I don't understand the "pay less and owe interest on the delayed portion." The Payboo card basically eliminated the sales tax on your purchase. Their other card allowed you to pay over time without any interest charges. The new card will allow you to do either from the same card (just not together at the same time).

The "big" states (CA, NY, etc.) can afford tax auditors to visit a seller like this and demand (and get) the right to view all transactions done in their state. Then each state will assess taxes against the seller for transactions in the home state of these auditors. - State laws are mutually inclusive and the seller must obey (and pay appropriate state sales tax.)

So, B&H finally falls into the same category of other large 'consolidators' like amazon, ebay, walmart in needing to pay state sales tax through the consolidator or their own website. It is as real as the simple math of 2+2.

Maybe this will make it clear?

When I buy from B&H or Adorama and others I usually don't but unless I have the money for it and then use PayPal or a Debit Card. I no longer choose to be in debt.

Now that you mention an interest free time payment I understand what you mean. My card rebates the tax amount as I’m ordering my merchandise. If I pay less than full balance then interest accrues. I was not aware of interest free time payment.

Acoarst I don’t see that as interest free cuz I’d be increasing the amount owed by 8.75% (taxes). I know thaz not actually the same as interest, but it’s like a surcharge ... at least it doesn’t compound on itself like interest.

Anywho, thanks for clearing that up. If they roll both options into one new card, it doesn’t change my world at all.

I use three credit cards, but I’m never in debt. Like you, I *choose* not to be in debt. There’s more than one way to peel a grape. I choose the way that pays the tax out of someone else’s pocket.

...just talked to them today about my Z9 order (made on Nov 28th) of which I was concerned that I wouldn't get the advantage if my camera was delayed. She told me they were "changing banks" but my order, since it's on record, would be honored. I don't know their strategy, only that I'll be able to employ *mine* where I'll pay that card off in one shot and not have to pay der taxxx! She did give me hope that I would get the item in a timely basis cuz they (B&H) were supposed to get 3000 of 'em on the 24th...

...no sh*t! Think 40,000 orders! So, I called today and was told that they'll ship from B&H first of the new year. Of course I asked where I stood in the order of things, and she said "...oh, you're in!" Well, how 'bout that! Haha...I'll feel even better when they notify me of a shipment!
