I was having wine with my spaghetti tonight, so I reached down to remove the cork from the already-opened bottle, and I cut my finger on the foil remaining on the top of the bottle. The cut is 1/4" long! Has this ever happened to anyone else in the history of the world? I'm 77, and I opened a few bottles of wine in my time. Crazy!

It's good to end the day with a laugh, and a bowl of ice cream.

I'm not a wine drinker but I've gotten "paper" cuts on many food product labels and don't get me started on blister packs.

A pox on the inventor and makers of blister packs.

That's why you should remove the top part of the foil before pulling the cork. Never pull a cork through the foil and you won't leave rough edges.

When I'm incapable of opening my $5.50 bottle of wine, I'll cash in my chips.

I try to limit my wine drinking to half a glass. I posted that I received 15 bottles of wine from CA for about $75 - Naked Wines.

Jerryc41: Makes sense. You're drinking the good stuff, which doesn't come with a damn cork versus a screw cap. Sample list: Boone's Farm, Red Dragger, 20/20, Mogen David, and my favorite of course, Andre's, which by the way, now comes in cans.

How about a box of wine?

I remember a line on "Night Court." The "bum" was opening a bottle of wine, and he said, "Hey, someone stuck a cork in this bottle!"

Well, I don't drink wine much at all...and I was a member of the WSJ wine club for about 4 years.
They buried me in wine...lol. I was giving cases of the stuff away all the time.
Usually only drink wine when we have guests...
A decanter is nice if you use the proper size...no air is the key to storage.
I find wine goes off after only a few days if I don't use a decanter.
Oh, it's still drinkable...but there is definitely a fall off.
