When I was in Force Recon (USMC) part of the training was you had to make 5 jumps. If you passed the first jump in good shape, they gave you a chute for the others.

Back in Basic Training at Ft. Campbell, TN/KY, my platoon sergeant was also the DI. When we got up for the morning "stretch", he would get unto the platform and look around. In his thunderous voice he would ask, "Why jump out of a plane when it is going to land perfectly in a little while?" He was the only DI of the group that did not have Jump Wing. (And from NYC)

"Psst. Wanna buy some sky-hooks?:

I've become used to someone posting something here in Chit-Chat and another person will post the same thing a few days later. But I haven't seen it where somebody posted the same thing on the same day. I didn't even have enough time to forget the punchline.

On a total malfunction, where the 'chute never left the pack you got a full one, partial malfunctions were prorated.

I once was invited to sky dive by a "boss" and I replied, "Respectively to you and your position in this company, f*** you very much." He accepted that with a smile.
