I can't use gmail to send a pic I take on an iPhone 12 to myself. Does anyone know
of a fix for that. I have heard that Apple and Google are at each other's throats.

Forget Gmail, just use the native app on your iPhone:

Go to Photos

Long press on the picture you wish to mail to yourself

Select "Share"

Select "Mail"

Fill out "To:" field

Hit up-arrow in upper right corner

Bob is now your mother's brother.

The previous post is PARTIALLY correct. If you use the mail app built into iOS instead of the Gmail app you won't have any problems. However, you do need to set that mail app up to use your Gmail account for sending/receiving emails.

Download the Gmail app for iPhone and it should work just fine.

Ack!

I forgot I had done that!

Thanks!

Go to "Settings"

Select "Mail"

Select "Accounts"

Select "Add Accounts"

Select "Google"

Sign in to your Gmail account

You should be good to go.

My "email widget" (white envelope with red "@" seal) on my Galaxy S-III lets me send emails to myself.
I've no idea who's email client it is though. I think it's in the Android operating system.
But my images do not exceed the basic 20/25 Mb email size limit either.

By default it would be the Gmail address you set the phone up with. But all of that can be changed/customized. I have like 5 gmail accounts all coming into that default email widget, so it gets all cluttered if I don't tend to it

I don't have a Gmail account. I set it up for Comcast, but that was back in 2014?.
I just checked - My phone only does the one Comcast account. I look at my other addresses on the computer with either my Comcast client or Thunderbird.

Ahhh yeah...that was a while back. I don't think I've ever tried to start a new Android device with anything other than Gmail.

Everything is all integrated these days so you don't have to back up texts, emails, contacts, etc....

Stuff I want to save is in additional folders. Local with Thunderbird and 'at' Comcast with that client.
Thunderbird is nice, it goes and gets the stuff in the Comcast inbox even if I've read it via the Comcast client.

I just found out that my phone email icon is the Android email application, not 'Google' per se.

I send iPhone images from Photos on my iPhone and iPad to my gmail all the time. The reason I do it is because I want to process it in Photoshop on my Macbook Pro. (Yes, I know I could use various apps to post process right on iPad, but I am used to doing it on my computer).

I use air drop to send photos from my iPhone to my laptop if it has not synced. I also send photos to my wife phone with air drop.

If you use any Apple devices, you should have an iCloud account (it's free). Use that instead.

iCloud ties all your Macs, iPhones, and iPads together so if you do something on one of them, it can be available on the others (provided you configure them properly).

iPhones support email accounts for all popular services... iCloud, gmail, MS Exchange Server, AOL, etc., and Apple Mail can be used for all of them at the same time. My Mac and iPhone are set up for two accounts.
