Fauci said when you criticize him that you are criticizing science, that is BS, science if nothing else is the constant effort to disprove what is understood as fact, that is the only manner in which facts are actually proved. Bull yourself.
Stating a position knowing it to be untrue, is misrepresenting if not simply lying:
- the American people should not be worried about Covid
- deliberately telling people not to "be walking around in masks"
- deliberately underestimating the percent of immunity required for herd immunity
- claiming he did not fund gain-of-function research
just to name a few of his biggest hits.

These were not scientific beliefs that were "accepted at the time and later changed", but political lies intended to mislead the American public.

As in any science, there is a degree of uncertainty. Data changes, and is refined—necessitating new hypotheses and explanation(s).

The problem, as it appears to me, is when Science and Politics become entangled. Uncertainty leads to political pronouncements which are interpreted as having only one ‘direction’. Then, when further data is analyzed, and another conclusion is reached and a different recommendation proffered, it all seems like “waffling”.

Which undermines people’s regard for consistency.

Most folk would prefer a constant stream of information (even if demonstrably wrong) than being faced to CHANGE their perception or point-of-view.
