Nikon p520.
I have a 7 yr old Nikon p520 I hadn’t used in a while. Got it out the other day & it will not turn on. Changed batteries; still no go. Cleaned battery contacts; still no go. Any ideas?
Take it to a camera store and see if they can diagnose it. I did with a B series Nikon bridge camera, and they were able to make it work without sending it out.

Remove battery - A tiny amount of alcohol or contact cleaner dripped into the on/off switch - and work the switch on-off while wet.....may solve this. Let dry for a bit, then put battery back in and see if it works (it has worked for me a number of times, cameras and other electronics). 91% rubbing alcohol works very well, and will not harm anything in the camera.
Tried contact cleaning; but not alcohol on the switch. Will do. Have noticed several on eBay that were being sold as parts due to same problem. May be inherent. Thanks for sggestions.

Yes, could be. Switches and connectors to board(s) and zoom motors can become intermittent/fail on you too. I do not have the same camera, so I cannot look it over....some other way to access the switch may be available (even partial disassembly could be considered at this point, to gain access). If the alcohol or contact cleaner can't get into the switch (inside) it may not help.
Another consideration is the battery (esp. if you only have one). If you have a voltmeter (or access to one) check the voltage of the battery - many cameras will cease to function if voltage is too low, and if it goes below the so called safe point for "low voltage" the battery may not accept a charge. I imagine there may be youtube videos on the issue(s), you might look there too. Good luck in your quest.
Just checking...I did now see where you said you charged the battery? And if you have more than one battery did you charge them all and try them all...
Also, did you store the camera with the battery in it...if you did try not to do that in the future when storing for a long period of time...
Good luck

Does a p520 have an internal battery?? If you placed your charged battery into the camera it may charge the internal battery if left for several days.

All good suggestions & appreciated. I tend to leave a charged battery in my cameras. However, I did let a battery get low in one of my other cameras this morning & the AF would not work. Put fresh battery in camera; problem solved. Will try the alcohol trick on the on/off button on the p520 tomorrow. When googling this problem I saw that a number of other people have had the same problem with the p520; has made me suspect this was a flaw with this camera.
