Kirkland Glossy photo paper

I am sure Costco solicits the best deal and quality balance for their Kirkland branded photo paper and changes suppliers occasionally (perhaps frequently ?). I use the 4X6" size excellent for printing cards and proofing edits/matching monitor to printer and color profile testing. Generally use the Epson premium glossy profile and it works fine.

Does anyone have any knowledge of the paper suppliers for Kirkland Glossy photo paper ? I use a wide variety of brands and types of paper and am just curious and would like to compare results.

I can only say that I have used the Kirkland Professional Inkjet Glossy 8.5X11 and 5X7 for several years and have found it completely satisfactory and consistent. I have a considerable supply of Canon and see no difference. Caveat, I nearly always print glossy except for special purpose papers and fabrics related to my Wife's Sewing & Quilting.

I used to use Kirkland glossy paper it is good stuff.

I now use canon pro platinum glossy and it is a little better overall. My customers have no complaints .

I have used Costco papers for years and no one has complained yet. I used Canon before and can't see any difference.

I have used the Costco paper and think it is a real bargain. The results equal Epson and Canon paper, at a lower cost.

I have had a problem with Kirkland glossy photo paper about eight years ago and have not used it since. Most of the time I thought my color photos looked fine until one time they weren't fine at all.

I was doing a B&W professional English Estate aerial photo reproduction that came up with a reddish cast to the trees on the estate with my Epson printer. First I tried all manner of adjustments to eliminate the red cast without results. I finally called Epson for help. The Epson rep agreed that I had covered all the steps normally used to correct color casts except one.

He said I needed to use Epson Glossy paper. So I did and the color cast disappeared as if by magic. Later comparing the Kirkland and Epson glossy papers side by side, it was obvious the Kirkland paper had a pink cast compared to the Epson paper and that was showing up in the B&W photo. Perhaps some of you smart printing techies know of another way to deal with that, but I just solved it by no longer using Kirkland paper.

For many years, I have been using ONLY Red River Paper and I have been unbelievably happy. Check out their site. Best of luck.

So, I live in Canada and Kirkland stopped selling their photographic papers a few years ago.

I do a lot of printing, have 2 printers, one that will do up to 13" x 19", (Epson ET-8550)

and the other, an HP 24" Z9+, which can do 24" wide prints and any length one requires,

I am now using Epson, Red River, and Canon papers, but do miss the cost of the Kirkland papers, and the quality that they were able to attain!

Do all Costco stores in the United States still carry the Kirkland brand of glossy papers?

Steve

I stopped using Kirkland paper when Ilford stopped being their supplier. I also use Canon, Epson and Red River paper because I can ensure the ICC profiles are correct for these papers with my printers.

If precise color calibration isn't important, and probably not to most, then a consistent quality paper from Costco is definitely a worthwhile alternative.

I use their 8.5 x 11 glossy and the back of the box says "Made in Mexico."

Steve: our Costco stores in Connecticut currently carry/list both the 4X6 and 8.5x11 glossy paper on the online website, but show the 8.5x11 as out of stock at the moment. Perhaps the supply is locked up on a circling freighter off California ?
