In trying to remove some screws with my electric screw driver, I’ve stripped the heads, and now can’t remove them..
I’ve heard of a tool that will enable removal.. anyone know the name of it and does it really work?

What type of screw and if round or pan head can you grab the head with vice grips?

Been there, done that. I tried a 4 lb. hammer then

went to Home Depot and bought a new one.

There are kits specifically made for screw extraction. You drill a small hole in the top of the screw head, and then use an extractor bit. They usually work, but only if the screw will actually move. To assist, try some penetrating oil.

Here's a link: https://www.homedepot.com/s/screw%2520extractor%2520set?NCNI-5

As you can see, they come in all price ranges.

Easy-out?
Tap-out?
(kinda like a backwards drill bit.)
depends on the size of the screw....

More money is spent and it hardly ever works.

Yep, an easy out is the standard procedure on a flat head bolt (and may work on a flat head screw), but if it’s a round head, trying to center the drill bit can be a bitch - maybe using a center pouch before drilling?

One method I’ve used is to take a hacksaw and cut a new slot in the screw head if room allows. Also if there is any of the screw that can be grabbed with a vice grip plier, it can be unscrewed that way.

easiest thing that I have tried is to just drill the head off of the screw. Then you can get off whatever is being held by the screw. At that point you have something that you can get hold of and you will have options such as vice grips to remove the screw

An Easy Out is the required tool but a lot depends on the size of the screw...they come with different pitches as well. If these won't fit, try cutting a new slot with your hacksaw...or try Molegrips or Multigrips..

You can use a screw extractor, sold at hardware stores
