Rode 60 miles today through Green Swamp in Florida. Managed to snap photos of a few of the critters along the way...almost all with telephoto. The gators were all seen from small bridges along the way, but the cottonmouth was only a couple feet to the side of the trail. I never saw him, but another biker pointed him out to me...yikes!

He was about 6 feet long. Was backing away and just letting me know not to get any closer.

I like them all, especially the cottonmouth shots. That's a big snake. I appreciate your pointing out that it was backing away and trying to avoid a confrontation. That's been my experience with the rattlesnakes I encounter around here, which is why I don't fear them and certainly would never kill one. Thank you for sharing these photos.

When I rode a lot, rode over a gopher who ran in front of me when I was pushing hard - peddled faster and didn't look back. Always wondered, out here, if I could bunny hop a venomous snake. Fortunately, never had to!

You got some nice snake poses. But that is a diamond backed rattle snake rather than a water moccasin
