Your critique would be greatly appreciated.
The scene suits the soft editing.

I like that. It almost looks like you added sepia. It has a really vintage photo vibe that works perfectly with the subject. Simple, understated and elegant. I like everything about it.

Better to make a smaller strong statement, as is, there is too much scenery. The story that I see starts with the short tree just to the right of the midpoint and ends bring in the right side toward the edge of the tall clump. The sky says little.
Yes, I agree, the sepia sets the early morning sleepy sipping coffee mood quite well.
Thanks to all! This photo was practically straight out of camera except for sharpening. Taken early dawn with the fog over the fields.
DPullum: I'm all for cutting out extraneous stuff from a photo. If you are amenable, would you please post an example of an image that you "see." Thanks.

It's all a matter of intent. A cropped version will say "Quiet little corner" whereas the uncropped version says "Wide open spaces". What's right or wrong is determined by what suits your preferences.

Here it is cropped, but I cloned in the sky from the left side, since the clouds were a nice touch.
Very nice capture. The cloud along the top acts like a frame and rows your eye into the picture.

Thanks so much. I really like the colors. However, the brambles are too messy and don't make a nice subject. The left side of the original image is nicer. Perhaps just not a good picture overall. Thanks very much for helping me to see a different perspective.

Thank you for the opportunity to do a little editing. Once I started, then oops the brambles caught me, so I agree about the brambles... My cropaholic tendency came from the TBCClub... the judges were pros and the main judge was in my first year giving me low points... one competition night I fumed and said why the low points... and he demonstrated cropping to the story. " a photo should have one area, one story for the viewer to see."
The next year I won 3rd place in the yearly [once competition/month] ... after that, I just did what I wanted... just proved to myself I could do it ...
Most cameras have HDR settings and for a photo like this one, it would give you a lot of opportunity for modification and cloning.

Thanks again for your comments. Gosh! I have to remember about HDR!
